Berco® and Bercostat®
POWER RESISTORS AND RHEOSTATS

Many years of experience in the design and manufacture of wire wound power resistors has resulted in an extensive range of highly professional products to suit many applications. Drawing on the long history from 1926 of the former British Electric Resistance Company ("BERCO") the products of which became part of the Claude Lyons range in 1976, we pride ourselves on providing top quality cost effective resistors to a vast range of users including laboratories, industry and defence. Products available are summarised below and further information is available from our sales office.

Bercostat® Rotary Rheostats

An extensive range of rotary rheostats to suit all industrial and laboratory needs comprising nine basic frame size models from 25 watts (L25) to 750 watts (L750) with ohmic values from 1Ω to 15kΩ (see table)

Available options include graded windings, 360° rotation, adjustable stops, motor drives, enclosed models and multi-ganging.

Berco® RA Fixed and Preset Resistors

Close wound on robust ceramic formers and provided with tapping bands, these resistors are available in a wide range of power ratings from 20W to 180W with resistance, according to model, from 0·33Ω to 22750Ω.

Berco® Mica Card Resistors

Ratings from 45W to 260W. Applications include machinery, theatre lighting and load banks.

Berco® 'J' Coil Resistors

This well proven design of grid resistance consists of a helix of edge wound resistance strip, mounted on porcelain insulators which in turn are mounted on a steel support. The maximum surface area of the resistance material is exposed to the cooling air to give the maximum dissipation of heat and thus the highest possible rating.

Berco® Tubular Fixed & Sliding Resistors

Tubular resistors meet the demand for users requiring high dissipation capacities. Their robust construction readily lends them to many industrial and laboratory uses. Single and multiple tube models are available in a wide range of ratings and resistance values.

All Claude Lyons Berco® and Bercostat® resistive products are available in a wide range of options, including MOD and NATO coded units to meet defence and maintenance requirements.
